Basially it is just that. World class coaching and sport science application within a training session that has a clear defined smart long term goal that the group have agreed to work to. These SQT sessions can be a one off training session or it can be a linked group of sessions that progress through a technical or tactical dificulty or a physical progression.
1. Why Choose to join a periodized SQT group
Since moving to NZ, I have realized that the Kiwi way to "do it youself" is a way of life that spans into the training of individuals who are keen racers and even up to the Elte level.
Most athletes do need coaching advice from time to time but due to work or family constraints they may not feel the need for one to one coaching packages. So to incorporate this way of thinking into our coaching structure we wll be delivering the group SQT sesions.
- How do the SQTs work? Athletes with similar goals, such as "to complete an Ironman in 6 months" or "to reach B grade on the road within this racing season" or "run a marathon in under 3 hours 15" can create a training group of 5-10 members. That group will then approach Patterson Training to structure a set of group training sessions that are periodized to achieve their goal.
- How is this training beneficial to each individual? At the start of the series of sessions, I can conduct individual field tests or lab based tests to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each athlete. The cost for these tests are shown below. Each athlete will then get individual advice within the group sessions to work on their weaknesses.
- $250 for a blood lactate profile (Bike or Treadmill)
- $100 for a power profile
- $100 for field based running tests
- How much is each training session? The cost for the SQT is $25 per person per session. I aim to deliver a minimum or 4 sessions per month with each goup. If the group feels they need more sessions I can book more sessions at the same cost of $25 per person per session. Bear in mind there must be a minimum of 5 people per group.
- What does a one off session consist of? One off SQT sessions can be used as a motivational fitness session specific to a groups chosen sport. For example a MTB group may wish to improve power, so I will structure a training session that is fun challenging and most of all proven to be benficial in the developement of power. Cost is $30 per person per session with a minimum of 5 per group.
- Can Patterson Training one to one clients attend SQT sessions? Yes and they do not have to pay the $25 fee if they are paying for the premium coaching package as this is included in their monthly fee.
- Will there be functonal fitness and strength and conditioning available? Yes circuit style functional fitness is a key aspect of any athletes training, so for example at the start of the training year there will be some gym and outdoor circuit training sessions. The frequency of these sessions will vary depending on the needs and training phase of the group.
