NEW Bike Fit

Fitting a rider to a bike is a complicated process that requires a sound knowledge based understanding of the biomechanics of cycling. This goes hand in hand with an experienced eye and the ability to assess each indiviual riders flexibility and range of motion to create an overall picture of how close the rider can get to their goal position and also how close their ideal is to the norm.

Why Choose a Patterson Training Bike Fit?

  • We are a profesional sport science organisaton. This means we are objective in our process, using information from scientific journals and writen articles from reliable authors.
  • We understand individual difference. It dosn't mater how much you want to look like Fabian Cancellara on your new time trial bike, you may not have the flexiblity to get anywhere near the ideal time trial position. I can't change you flexibility in one session, but we can find your optimal position and give you advice on how to improve your position through postural training and trainiing your flexibility
  • We can test the oucome. The process we follow allows us to evaluate the initial position and also the intensity to hold a given power in your initial position. Then after we have applied our changes (If any are required) we can re test how the body is able to maintain the same power output. This way we can double check our intervention before you leave us.
  • What we evaluate.
    • Shoulder angle
    • Elbow angle
    • Hip angle
    • Spine flexion on the bike
    • Function of hip flexors
    • Hamstring flexability
    • Knee angle
    • Knee position over the pedal axle
    • Ankle movement within the pedal cycle
    • Cleat position
    • Core stability
    • knee tracking
    • Power output, heart rate
  • And the best part is the cost. All this work and piece of mind costs $150 for up to 2 hours fitting one bike. This comes with a feedback sheet that you can take away and use as reference in future fitting or as your position changes for example with an increase in flexion and range of motion.
